Bath’s first 16+ boulder training gym for intermediate to experienced climbers to train on 10,000+
climbing routes made on an adjustable Tension Board 2, alongside fingerboards and small training area.
About LUMA
LUMA was born out of love for bouldering and outdoor climbing, with the ultimate desire to have weekday board sessions without travelling from the city centre. The training gym is designed for quick sessions to project and improve your skills that supplement your regular climbing routine.
We wanted to build a small climbing community here in the heart of Bath who can either come as a group for a social climb or be able to use the space solo. The unmanned space and easy book-in system allows for complete freedom and access to the gym at your own leisure.
The gym will be open from 6am - 11pm.
Who we are
We’re Matt and Lucy, two keen climbers with a deep love for projecting boulders. Whether it’s seeking out new routes in different countries or pushing our limits on old favourites here in the UK, we thrive on the challenge and beauty that the natural rock offers. We are aware that not all climbing can be done outside and training is still required to better our weaknesses for that next send.
We want to inspire others to discover the joy of climbing be it inside or outside and embrace the journey, no matter the grade.
Why the Tension Board 2?
After a lot of deliberation, customer surveys and professional support, LUMA has decided to choose a Tension Board 2 as its board of choice. Here’s why we decided this was the right choice for us:
ONE
The wooden holds are gentler on the skin, allowing for longer project sessions.
TWO
Hold selection allows for more tailored sessions, to improve specific training goals.
THREE
Greater footwork precision is required, parallel to outdoor climbing.
FOUR
The board still has a standardised layout to allow for international training and can still be used by all climbing abilities.
